Understanding God’s Law of Giving Beyond Manipulation, Misuse, and Misinterpretation

The subject of seeds and giving is one of the most misunderstood principles in the body of Christ. Many believers have been wounded, manipulated, confused, or misled because they were taught incomplete, unbalanced, or unbiblical versions of sowing. Yet at the same time, God Himself established the principle of the seed — long before churches, offerings, or preachers. This message exposes deception, clarifies truth, and restores the spiritual foundation of giving as God intended.

This study is based on the sermon “The Deceptions About Seeds & Seeding” delivered by Prophet Lovy Elias on 19 October 2022.

STUDY NOTES

1. God’s Original Purpose for Seeds

  1. “As long as the earth remains, seedtime and harvest shall not cease.”

  2. Seed was created before tithing, before church, before Israel, before Abraham — it is a spiritual law woven into creation.

  3. A seed is anything released to initiate a divine cycle: money, time, honor, obedience, sacrifice.

  4. Seed is not a church invention. Seed is a God invention.

  5. People misunderstand seeds because they think it is a financial tool, but it is a spiritual principle.

2. The First Deception — Seed Is Money Only

  1. Many think a seed is “money you give so God will bless you.”

  2. Money is only a form of seed; it is not the definition of seed.

  3. The first seed in Scripture was the Word, not money.

  4. Seed = something capable of producing after its kind.

  5. God does not limit seed to currency; people do.

3. The Second Deception — Seed Buys Miracles

  1. “You cannot buy God.”

  2. Giving does not make God perform for you.

  3. Sowing without obedience is bribery, not spirituality.

  4. Blessings do not respond to manipulation.

  5. God responds to faith and obedience, not transaction.

4. The Nature of Deception About Seeding

  1. Deception exists because people want shortcuts.

  2. They want harvest without character, sacrifice, or spiritual growth.

  3. People want money to replace obedience.

  4. Deception grows when people think giving is magic.

  5. God does not bless shortcuts; God blesses alignment.

5. Seed Responds to Obedience, Not Emotion

  1. The most dangerous giving is emotional giving.

  2. Emotion produces temporary movement but no spiritual root.

  3. A seed must be commanded, not assumed.

  4. God never asked Abraham for Isaac emotionally — it was a command.

  5. “A seed must always be tied to instruction.”

6. Cain and Abel — Revelation Determines Acceptance

  1. Both gave.

  2. One was accepted; the other was rejected.

  3. “It was not the amount — it was the revelation behind the gift.”

  4. Abel gave by revelation; Cain gave by assumption.

  5. Wrong revelation produces wrong giving.

7. Seed Without Revelation Is Empty

  1. Your seed reveals your revelation of God.

  2. If the revelation is shallow, the seed is shallow.

  3. People give because others are giving — that is not revelation.

  4. Giving from peer pressure carries no spiritual weight.

  5. Seed must be a response to what God has revealed.

8. Seed and Heart Posture

  1. “Where your treasure is, your heart will be also.”

  2. Seed reveals heart posture more than it reveals generosity.

  3. God does not measure the size of the gift but the depth of obedience.

  4. Some seeds are large but empty.

  5. Some seeds are small but full of faith.

9. Abraham — Seed that Speaks Obedience

  1. Abraham’s offering of Isaac was not money but obedience.

  2. Obedience is the highest form of seed.

  3. Abraham gave what God asked, not what he preferred.

  4. A seed must cost something to carry spiritual meaning.

  5. “When God asks for a seed, He is asking for alignment.”

10. The Law of Sacrifice and the Law of Seed Are Connected

  1. Seed expresses obedience; sacrifice expresses value.

  2. Sacrifice = giving what costs you.

  3. Seed without sacrifice is donation, not spirituality.

  4. When sacrifice meets instruction, the supernatural opens.

  5. The greatest blessings in Scripture followed sacrifice.

11. Isaac — Sowing in Hard Ground

  1. Isaac sowed in famine.

  2. Famine ground obeyed him because God instructed the seed.

  3. A seed obeys the voice of God, not the condition of the ground.

  4. “Good seed in bad ground is better than bad seed in good ground.”

  5. Multiplication follows obedience, not environment.

12. Jacob — Seed Connected to Vow

  1. Jacob vowed a vow before sowing.

  2. “If You bring me back safely… all that You give me I will give a tenth.”

  3. Jacob’s seed was covenantal.

  4. Covenant seeds speak for generations.

  5. A seed can create destiny alignment.

13. Seeds Carry Voices

  1. Abel’s blood spoke.

  2. Sacrifices speak.

  3. Seeds testify before God.

  4. A seed is a witness in the spirit.

  5. A seed can speak mercy, breakthrough, remembrance, or judgment.

14. Many Harvests Fail Because the Seed Had No Assignment

  1. A seed must be designated.

  2. People sow without knowing the purpose of the seed.

  3. “A seed with no assignment cannot produce.”

  4. Seed is not random money; it is targeted obedience.

  5. Your seed must know where it is going.

15. You Cannot Sow Into Every Ground

  1. Not all ground is ordained for you.

  2. Wrong ground produces spiritual loss.

  3. People sow into charisma, not spirit.

  4. Seed should be planted into:

    • revelation

    • obedience

    • divine instruction

    • spiritual covering

  5. “Ground matters as much as seed.”

  1. God rejects seeds sown outside His instruction.

18. Why Manipulation Exists in Giving

  1. Manipulation works because believers do not read Scripture.

19. Prophetic Instruction and Seeding

  1. Prophetic instruction is not manipulation; it is revelation.

  2. Many confuse prophetic instruction with financial pressure.

  3. Prophets speak by revelation, not by emotion.

  4. When God speaks through a prophet, the seed is divine instruction.

  5. “When instruction is divine, the harvest is guaranteed.”
