Understanding the unseen hierarchy that influences mankind.

Spiritual realities often remain hidden from the natural eye, yet they shape patterns, behaviors, and outcomes in the lives of people. This teaching opens the curtains wide, revealing how different classes of spirits function, how they influence humanity, why discernment is essential, and how believers must posture themselves in a world filled with both visible and invisible forces.

This article is a comprehensive set of study notes based on the YouTube message “Overcoming the Princes of Demons,” preached by Prophet Lovy Elias on 21 July 2024.

Study Notes

1. Introduction to the Teaching

  • The Lord Jesus is Lord. May his name be glorified.

  • I pray that you will be blessed tremendously with what we’re going to learn today.

  • Today we are going to study something extremely important.

  • There are different kind of demons.

  • Demons and devils, we use the words interchangeably, but they actually aren’t the same thing.

2. Understanding the Diversity of Spirits

  • Spirits are not made equally. Every spirit is different.

  • Not all evil spirits are handled the same.

  • When I’m using the word evil spirit, I’m using a blanket statement to refer to all that is of the devil.

  • If a spirit is evil, it is not a matter of how it was created, but a matter of the nature that it has adapted.

  • Sometimes we cast out spirits of men out of other men.

  • If you have not been acquainted with spiritual things personally, you will not understand certain things that scripture says.

3. Human Spirits and the Concept of Ghosts

  • When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying it is a spirit.

  • The word ghost means human spirit.

  • If you just say spirit, what spirit are you referring to? Because God is also a spirit.

  • When you say a ghost, now you are separating; you are identifying what kind of spirit it is.

  • There are haunted houses; these are not even spiritual people saying this — they are salespeople mandated by law to disclose if someone died in a house.

  • People who know nothing about spirituality will tell you that is a demon — no, that’s not a demon.

  • A demon looks for a house to occupy; demons don’t want to live in a house.

4. Spirits of the Dead and Cultural Observations

  • In my father’s culture, they truly believe that when somebody passed away, they would take the family through rituals.

  • Part of those rituals is speaking to the spirit of the dead person because they know after 40 days the spirit of the person has to leave the earth.

  • When you die, you don’t just leave the earth; your spirit is here for 40 days.

  • Every culture in the world, even those not Christian, knows this truth.

  • Some spirits don’t rest.

  • That’s why we say Rest in Peace — it is a message to the dead person, not to you.

  • Some people don’t rest. You can buy a house and there is no rest in it.

5. Spirits That Become Evil

  • There are influences of human spirits also.

  • These spirits become evil in nature especially if people died or were murdered or something that they still cannot rest in peace.

  • Some spirits remain behind.

  • Some spirits try to live their life through somebody.

  • It is an evil spirit trying to relive its true power.

6. Broader Categories of Spiritual Beings

  • We deal with different kinds of spirits.

  • We deal with human spirits.

  • We deal with angelic spirits.

  • We deal with spirits of the earth.

  • Spiritual beings have been here; they look after creation.

  • Christians think it’s devils, angels, and human beings — no.

  • The world of spirits is much bigger and greater than our little mortal world.

7. Fallen Ones and Their Alignment

  • When Satan was kicked out, he took a third of the stars.

  • People misunderstand this; they think Satan took the angels that were under his rank.

  • It is a figure of speech.

  • Satan lied to them; he was a liar from the beginning.

  • Those who aligned themselves with him are the ones mentioned.

  • Some spirits co-rule with him — partners in their failed revolution.

  • This is where the term princes of hell came from.

8. Beelzebub — Prince of the Devils

  • But when the Pharisees heard it, they said this fellow does not cast out devils but by Beelzebub, the prince of the devils.

  • There is a guy called Beelzebub who is called the prince of the devils.

  • Beelzebub controls a certain regiment.

  • Satan and Beelzebub are not the same person.

  • The Bible calls Satan the god of this world; it does not call him a prince.

  • If this one is called a prince, then there is a king.

9. Scriptural Logic Concerning Kingdoms

  • Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation.

  • If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall his kingdom stand?

  • If I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out?

10. Distinction Between Beelzebub and Baal

  • Baal means lord.

  • Beelzebub means lord of the fly — not flies — but fly.

  • Baal was worshipped; Beelzebub was consulted.

  • These are not the same.

  • Baal required blood; Beelzebub didn’t.

  • Beelzebub could be summoned and consulted.

11. Invocation and the Danger of Consulting Spirits

  • The king sent messengers: Go inquire of Beelzebub, the god of Ekron.

  • The angel of the Lord confronted them for this.

  • Is it because there is no God in Israel that you go to inquire of Beelzebub?

  • God was offended.

  • This shows Beelzebub could be spoken to.

  • Consultation equals severe judgment.

  • The cost is too high and not worth it.

12. Spirits That Don’t Possess Humans

  • Beelzebub doesn’t possess people.

  • The people who served him were not possessed by him.

  • Possessing a human body is a limitation.

  • The fallen ones don’t need a body.

  • They can operate without embodying anyone.

13. Nature of Possessing Spirits

  • The spirits that possess people drive them even against their will.

  • People bound with pornography, alcohol, or filth are driven to do those things.

  • When did the devil ever have sex to desire sex?

  • Cherubim don’t procreate.

  • The concept of attraction doesn’t exist for angelic beings.

  • Satan has no queen.

14. Angelic Nature and Non-Procreative Beings

  • Gabriel wasn’t thinking sexually when announcing the birth of Jesus.

  • Angels don’t think in the categories humans think.

  • Heaven is a melting pot of all kinds of creations God has made.

  • Different beings exist in the realms of light.

15. Watchers and Holy Ones (Daniel 4)

  • A watcher and a holy one came down from heaven.

  • Two angelic natures were described.

  • Watchers procreate; holy ones don’t.

  • The term sons of God in Genesis 6 was applied to watchers.

16. Genesis 6 and Hybrid Offspring

  • The sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair.

  • They took wives of all which they chose.

  • Their children became mighty men of old.

  • These were giants and abominations.

  • Violence filled the earth.

  • All flesh had corrupted its ways.

17. Genetic Corruption of Creation

  • There were giants before and after the flood.

  • There were lion-like men.

  • Animals had been genetically modified.

  • God preserved pure breeds in the ark.

  • Bestiality originated from fallen knowledge.

18. Earth Spirits and Dwarf Beings

  • In the Congo forest, dwarf spirits exist.

  • Their feet face backwards.

  • They are spirits of the forest.

  • They have families and children.

  • Satan corrupted many spirits dwelling in the earth.

19. Weapons of Warfare Differ

  • Our weapons of warfare — not weapon — meaning multiple tools exist.

  • Each kind of diabolical spirit requires a specific tool.

  • This kind refers to different types of spirits.

20. The Core Operation of Beelzebub

  • This spirit wants to be consulted.

  • The primary manifestation is the desire to know the future apart from God.

  • Instead of hungering for the mind of God, people hunger for information.

  • It takes advantage of anxiety about the future.

21. Seducing Spirits and Doctrines of Devils

  • In the latter times some shall depart from the faith.

  • Giving heed to seducing spirits.

  • Doctrines of devils.

  • Seducing spirits entice and hypnotize.

  • Devils give doctrine because they are fallen ones.

22. Signs of Beelzebub’s Influence

  • Desire to know the future apart from God.

  • Envy.

  • Gluttony — no restraint, no satisfaction.

  • Greed.

  • Pride — esteeming yourself better than others.

  • Laziness — wanting results without diligence.

  • Quick fixes without spiritual maturity.

23. Proper Posture in Prayer and Discernment

  • Prayer is not in much speaking.

  • There is no power in prayer; the power is in God who answers prayer.

  • Don’t be like the heathen who think much speaking will cause them to be heard.

  • Learn to interact with God.

  • Speak to God from the heart before moving into tongues.

  • Tongues edify, but purity of communication matters.

24. Warning Against Consulting Demons Through Manifestations

  • Many have built doctrines from consulting demons during deliverance.

  • This results in false teachings.

  • The source of information is not demons — the Holy Spirit gives truth.

  • Manifestations can deceive if not discerned properly.

25. Maturity in Receiving From God

  • There is a process to hearing, interpreting, and understanding God’s voice.

  • Desire to know must not surpass desire to know God.

  • Accuracy comes from humility, diligence, and consistency.

  • God desires to reveal His mind, but in His way and pace.

“Father, in the name of Jesus, we bless your holy and righteous name. God, we give you praise. We give you glory. We thank you that this was a divine moment, that you have opened up your heart, God, and you have opened up your mind, and you have allowed us to see beyond where we were before, to grow beyond where we were before.

Father, we thank you for the instruction that has gone forth. And we just ask, God, that our capacity would increase, that you would give us your spirit of wisdom and spiritual understanding, that we would not miss the word that you are delivering to us, that we would not miss the growth that you have brought to us, and we would not miss that it is by your word that we can move and live in the freedom that you have given us.

God, we bless you. We bless you. We bless you. I pray, oh God, for each and every person that will be listening, that the word that they receive will be the word that is needed to transform their lives and to bring about your intention and purpose for them.
